HiFX Morning Update, June 22

HiFX Morning Update, June 22

The NZDUSD opens at 0.6918 this morning.

Majority of currencies have traded relatively tight on Friday due to the lack of USD data releases which can generally drive direction.

However, it has been noted that the Fed speakers have a “wait and see” stance on raising rates. All this is very much data drive and relies on inflation being closer to 2%.

No major out performers at the close of last week, but the Yen was up moderately against the US whilst both the Euro and Pound lost ground.

Euro zone finance ministers will be seated again today to determine Greece’s fate.

Global equity markets on the day saw; Dow -06%, Nikkei + 0.9%, FTSE unchanged at 6.710, DAX -.05%.

Gold prices currently unchanged at USD$1,201.50, Oil sitting at -1.4% at $59.61.

The current indicative mid-rates are:

NZDUSD 0.6900
NZDEUR 0.6061
NZDGBP 0.4346
NZDJPY 84.85
NZDAUD 0.8880
NZDCAD 0.8454
