James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor Wins Eco-Couture Award
James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor Wins Eco-Couture Award
James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor is delighted to confirm winning the Eco-Couture Award at the 2015 Wellington Gold Awards at the TSB Bank Arena, held on the 9th July.
The hotel, which was a finalist in the Green Gold category of the Wellington Gold Awards, entered the Eco-Couture Award by creating an environmentally friendly eco fashion dress made from the wrapping paper of the toilet rolls that are used at the hotel. The toilet rolls are supplied by Tork and all tissue paper used is recyclable.
The hotel was also awarded the Best Eco-Dressed Table with the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor table of ten all wearing bow ties or fascinators made from the wrapping paper to match the eco-couture dress.
The dress was worn on the evening by Lynaire McBrydie, Sales and Marketing Executive, who comments “The dress was designed and created by Saki Konagai, Sales and Marketing Coordinator, and myself, but it was definitely a team effort. The housekeeping team collected and ironed each individual sheet of tissue paper! We then folded each sheet together to create the dress, and the sales team created the matching bow ties and fascinators. It was such a fun project to work on and we are thrilled to be recognised for our efforts.”
The winning Eco-Couture dress will be on display for the next few months on level 16 of the hotel, in the conference floor foyer for anyone who would like to take a closer look.
