Northpower secures third Prime Minister’s Business Scholarship

Northpower Limited has secured a Prime Ministerial Scholarship.

Josie Boyd, Northpower’s General Counsel, will be among 12 senior executives and business owners to attend one of the world’s most prestigious business schools after receiving a Prime Minister’s Business Scholarship.

Mrs Boyd will study in America, completing either the Wharton Advanced Management Program or the Stanford Executive Development Program.

“I am incredibly privileged to be able to use this Prime Minister’s Business Scholarship to undertake a world class course with a broad general management and leadership focus to support my professional and personal development,” says Mrs Boyd.

“This is a great opportunity and it is exciting to be amongst a group of such high calibre professionals selected.

“I believe the breadth of learning provided by the courses I have shortlisted will develop my capability from a specialist manager to a business leader operating in an international context.”

Northpower Chief Executive Mark Gatland says Mrs Boyd’s recognition is well deserved.

“Josie has had a significant influence on Northpower and Northpower Fibre since she joined us in early 2011. Her work is well regarded in the electricity sector and in Government circles through the impact she has had in Northpower Fibre and our partnership with Crown Fibre Holdings in the Whangarei ultra-fast broadband (UFB) network build.

“She is a stand out in her profession and this opportunity will be a significant step forward in her career which is good for Northpower and good for New Zealand Inc in terms of fast-tracking the development of our future business leaders,” says Mr Gatland.

Mr Gatland says West Coast Energy Chief Executive Sean Horgan and Northpower’s General Manager of Business Support Barbara Harrison have both benefited immensely from their Prime Minister’s Scholarships.
