Exellence in training recognised in Connexis Company Training and Development Awards 2015
Three companies exemplifying excellence in developing their people have been recognised in the Connexis Company Training and Development Awards 2015.
The awards, organised by Civil Contractors New Zealand (CCNZ), recognise excellence in training and developing the skills and potential of employees in the civil construction industry.
The awards have three categories for companies with turnovers of up to $10m; $10m-$25m and over $25m.
Winner of the up to $10m category was Wellington-based Construction Contracts Ltd (CCL), which also won the same category in the inaugural awards last year.
The medium-sized civil, drainage and water contractor employs about 30 full-time staff. All are currently doing training, including National Certificates with Connexis, the industry training organisation for New Zealand’s infrastructure industries.
Blakely Construction of Christchurch took honours in the $10m-$25m category. The company has 80 staff and has been heavily involved with Connexis since 2012. Regular in-house training is provided and scores of staff have also undergone external training over the past three years.
Kapiti Coast company Goodman Contractors, also a winner last year, took top honours in the over $25m category.
All of Goodman’s 157 staff are also receiving training, including in-house training. Currently more than a third of the staff team is involved in external training with some working towards formal infrastructure and engineering qualifications with Connexis or the MITO or Competenz training providers.
Helmut Modlik, Chief Executive Office for Connexis, said: “Recognising those building successful businesses through building the capability of their people is the purpose of the Connexis Company Awards.
“The increasing quality and inspirational company practices noted in the 2015 award applications were superb. Congratulations again from Connexis to all award winners for setting the standard.”
