Property Council celebrates Richard Didsbury as its 2015 Member Laureate
Property Council has honoured Richard Didsbury as its 2015 Member Laureate for his outstanding contribution to the New Zealand commercial property industry.
Richard Didsbury is the founder of Kiwi Income Property Trust which developed the Sylvia Park shopping centre in suburban Auckland, the Vero Centre with its unique New Zealand themed foyer, and the recently completed ASB building on Auckland’s waterfront; known for its phenomenal sustainability features.
Property Council national president Peter Mence, says he is delighted that Mr Didsbury’s commitment to the commercial property sector and the legacy that he has created, have been recognised.
“Richard Didsbury is well-known within our industry for the leading projects he has produced. This is a chance to show our respect and gratitude for years of dedication in the way of innovation, leadership and top quality work.
“Property Council’s success depends on its volunteers who donate significant amount of time and expertise. They are the driving force behind many important industry changes, through countless hours of research and advocacy efforts. It gives me great pleasure to honour them.”
Over the decades Mr Didsbury has contributed to Auckland as a director of Infrastructure Auckland, Tourism Auckland, and is currently a director of Auckland International Airport, SkyCity and the Hobsonville Land Company where he is providing a critical role in demonstrating how high quality, dense, urban development can be created successfully.
He is a tireless supporter for Auckland with one single objective, “to make Auckland the most attractive choice for my grandchildren to make their home”. He championed the formation of the Committee for Auckland in 2002 and is the current chairman.
Mr Didsbury is a key figure in the commercial property sector in Auckland and has received accolades for visionary work on the Property Council of New Zealand of which he is a past National President.
