Meridian Energy hosts the first BizCity business event

10 November 2015

Meridian Energy hosts the first BizCity business event, in Wellington

Local, internationally successful, entrepreneurs and industry experts are to frontline BizCity’s inaugural Wheel of Success event in Wellington.

Just 75 places are available for the 30 November event at Meridian’s waterfront office. Participants will be able to question experts in small groups and get advice on how to achieve business success. BizCity’s CEO, Paul Mclaren says it’s not your usual networking affair. “We’ve got speakers who are experts in their fields ready to inspire and advise the capital’s small business community.”

Entrepreneurial speakers include business mentor and award-winning author Laura Humphreys, who built and sold RedRocks Advertising Agency and Pet Angels, and Mike Brunel, who created a global company generating over $300 million annually. The event also includes local experts in fields relied heavily on by small-medium business – HR, IT, media, law, technology, crowdfunding and more.

Paul says, “taking bad advice and choosing the wrong supplier can mean the difference between success and failure for small business. This event is just one of many services BizCity is working on to help small business thrive.”

Meridian’s Head of Sales and Marketing Jason McDonald says “we’re totally behind BizCity’s mission to support small-medium business. Meridian is all about making partnerships and offering solutions aimed at saving business customers time, money and hassle. In September we connected to Xero, and we have lots more tailored business solutions in the pipeline.”

BizCity also has the backing of other players in the business community - Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce, MediaWorks and the New Zealand Technology Industry Association.

Paul says, “We’re a young organisation but the response we’ve had from partners and providers wanting to join our community has been overwhelming. We hope this first event in Wellington will be the first of many around the country, as we look to expand and grow our services to other urban centres.”

BizCity is growing an accredited community of small business service providers that have all been rated and reviewed, and proved their worth. In future it will provide blogs, articles and business resources and special offers to users for free. For more information on the Wheel of Success event and to register visit wheelofsuccess.com.
