VTNZ takes top enterprise workplace award for second year running

VTNZ, New Zealand’s largest vehicle inspection and driver testing provider, has taken out the top spot in its category at the IBM Kenexa Best Workplaces Awards for the second year in a row.

The vehicle safety expert beat out a large number of excellent New Zealand employers to secure the award for best enterprise workplace in the country. Workplaces in this category must employ more than 750 staff.

The Kenexa survey, run every year by IBM, asks employees to anonymously rate how satisfied they are with their workplace. VTNZ received a clean warrant of fitness from 97.1 per cent of its more than 1000 staff.

“We know that highly engaged staff provide an excellent customer experience, so this is an important litmus test for us,” says VTNZ chief executive Mike Walsh. “We’re thrilled to receive this award for a second consecutive year, and it shows our staff continue to enjoy working for us and feel looked after – that’s just so important.”

“Great leadership at our stations and good communication makes all the difference. We try to give our teams accountability and ownership for the services they’re providing wherever possible. We’re very committed to our people as an organisation, and it’s humbling to see them reflecting that back,” he says.

VTNZ carries out more than 1.5million vehicle inspections, 230,000 practical driving tests and more than 2.6million other transactions with customers across its various services lines every year.

The vehicle safety expert employs more than 1000 staff and has the largest number of certified mechanics in New Zealand.

IBM’s Kenexa Best Workplaces survey is the largest study of workplaces in New Zealand, collecting the views of more than 30,000 employees.
