Electronics, wine & homewares are top of Kiwi Christmas list
The ‘friendly courier experts’ are seeing electronic products, wine and homewares all top the Christmas ‘wish list’ this year.
Reports reveal that there are more parcels in transit in New Zealand than ever before, with online retail spend 15% higher than in September 20141. Additionally, Fastway Couriers estimates that in the months leading up to Christmas, its network will experience a double digit percentage growth in the amount of parcels delivered.
Fastway Couriers has built a reputation for providing friendly, cost-effective courier services to the B2B and B2C market, enabled by its state of the art technology and vast network. The company is viewed as an innovator in the online retail parcel delivery space and works with a number of online retailers both local and international.
Electronic products
Scott Jenyns, Chief Executive Officer at Fastway Couriers, says:
“In New Zealand, the online purchases of electronic goods have been particularly strong with an annual growth rate of approximately 25-30%1. Everyone wants or needs to be ‘connected’ at all times these days, which has inevitably supported the demand for consumer electronic products such as desktops, laptops, tablets and smartphones, making them a clear favourite for Christmas presents. Although popular all year round, Christmas is our busiest time of year for electronic items.”
Wine
Scott says that another hot favourite in the run-up to the Christmas period is of course, you guessed it, wine.
“With the liquor industry only just realising the boom of the online retail sector in the past few years, domestic wine sales volumes have increased by an estimated 24%2. We distribute thousands of wine cases each year across New Zealand, with Christmas being one of our busiest times. We’re increasingly working with wine businesses to assist them in delivering products to their customers across New Zealand as alcohol needs to be handled with care and can’t be left at the door.”
Homewares
“What we’re seeing is an increasing acceptance of the internet as an efficient shopping tool for everyday products, including homewares and sporting goods. A major player operating within this market has reported an increase in these sectors, with year-to-date sales growing by 3.53% and 10.65% respectively3. With the rise of e- and m-commerce, it can be far easier to research and shop for these products online to get organised ahead of time.”
Helping businesses and customers this Christmas
To make everything as easy as possible for customers, Fastway Couriers has also developed a range of innovative services including Parcel Connect, a convenient alternative to postal and traditional courier services. Via www.parcelconnect.co.nz, customers can send or collect parcels at a local Parcel Connect agent at a time that suits them. Parcel Connect agents are situated in convenient locations in towns such as, newsagents, corner stores or service stations. All locations have extended operating hours, allowing customers to skip the queues at the post office and deal with their Christmas parcels outside the 9am to 5pm restrictions.
“Our customers told us that Parcel Connect was something that would make their lives easier. Further to this, Fastway is also employing additional resources and its latest technology to assist in maintaining its delivery standards during the busy Christmas period. We’re doing this by extending our operating hours, introducing additional vans to the fleet and utilising delivery information through track and trace functionality. At this time of year, these are particularly useful. As the modern day Santa, we look forward to delivering Christmas gifts across the country.”
