Influential Boutique Law Firm Created From Talent Merger

A new boutique law firm has launched in Auckland, following the merger of several small, but highly influential, companies.

Called Kirkland Morrison O’Callahan & Ho, the Albert Street-based firm is holding a merger party on 17 December, featuring popular entertainers Raybon Kan and Jessie Wu as joint MCs. www.kmoh.co.nz

“Earlier this year, we merged with Focus Law, a prominent Chinese-focused law firm run by Eva Ho,” says director Edwin Morrison. “This followed a number of other mergers over recent years so we decided it was time to celebrate the creation of our unique firm.”

Of the 20 lawyers in the firm, seven are Chinese and the Asian community will be a key client base for Kirkland Morrison O’Callahan & Ho (KMOH).

“Our highly-experienced and influential team has an extraordinary range of complementary skills,” says Morrison. “We may be boutique in size and character but that means we are able to work directly with our clients to provide them with long-term strategies that deliver sustainable and successful outcomes.”

He and Mark Kirkland both previously worked at Kensington Swan before starting their own law firm 10 years ago. Kirkland has also worked with Westpac Bank and Robert Jones Investments.

Brent O’Callahan is a well-known litigation expert in both New Zealand and internationally while Hong Kong-born Eva Ho moved here in 1996 and joined Russell McVeagh, before forming her own firm, Focus Law, 10 years ago.

KMOH’s legal capabilities include commercial work, property, litigation, resource management, family, immigration and trusts.

In addition, several of its lawyers are actively involved in the NZ Outdoor Society, a not-for-profit group with more than 1,000 members which organises regular outdoor events for the NZ Chinese community.
