North Canterbury’s First Business Centre Now Open
The Enterprise North Canterbury (ENC) Business Centre opened its doors on Tuesday this week in Kaiapoi.
The centre is the first of its kind in the region and is run by the local economic development agency, Enterprise North Canterbury. It is set to become a ‘go to’ place for all things business in the region where people can easily access the wide range of business support, advice and resources offered by ENC.
Facilities include drop-in workspaces for public use with ultrafast broadband as well as meeting rooms and a conference room available for hire. These can be booked quickly and easily online at http://www.northcanterbury.co.nz/. The year ahead will also see an expanded schedule of business events at the centre, including free business health checks run by sponsor, BDO.
The centre has been financed through a combination of prudent financial management and the sponsorship of businesses. Thirteen sponsors, in total, have come on board and have made the centre possible.
On Wednesday this week ENC held their first board meeting on the premises, followed by an informal event to thank their sponsors. Waimakariri Mayor David Ayers was in attendance along with several members of the ENC Board.
David Ward of sponsor BDO said “We are delighted to be able to support the ENC business centre, the first of its kind in North Canterbury. ENC and BDO share similar goals of backing business and inspiring growth to create a prosperous region. We look forward to seeing the facility being a long term asset for Kaiapoi and the wider North Canterbury community”.
Heather Warwick, Chief Executive of ENC, said “It is great to finally open the doors of our business centre to the public. We have been overwhelmed by support and good wishes from the North Canterbury business community. Obviously we want to see the meeting and conference rooms in use, but we also want to see people dropping in, using the Wi-Fi, tapping into our business support services and perhaps doing some informal networking with other users of the centre. We want it to be a dynamic and exciting place where business people can learn, network, exchange ideas and talk to each other.”
The ENC Business Centre is open from 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Further information on the centre and its facilities can be found online at www.northcanterbury.co.nz.
