chord
Air New Zealand’s latest Meanwhile in New Zealand – Santa Stop Here Christmas video has been viewed online by more than two million people around the world.
The video follows the story of Archie who has recently moved back to Queensberry near Wanaka with his family after living in Broome in Western Australia and is concerned Santa might miss him this year as a result. With the help of Air New Zealand the six year old’s dad creates a huge sign in flashing lights to ensure Santa pays a visit.
Since being released last Wednesday, the video has attracted more than 3,000 comments, 30,000 shares and 34,000 likes on Facebook, attracting a new comment, share or like on the airline’s Facebook page every minute.
The story of the video has also attracted international media coverage, including Australia’s 7News and Sydney Morning Herald and The Daily Mail in the UK.
Air New Zealand’s Head of Global Brand Development Jodi Williams says the video was created for the Australian market to encourage expats and Australian holiday makers alike to experience the beauty of New Zealand in summer.
“Christmas for us at Air New Zealand is all about spreading a little bit of magic and joy over the holidays. This Meanwhile in New Zealand episode feels extra special for Australians, by featuring a family which has returned from living in Western Australia.”
Archie’s mum Sam Davidson says the response to the video has been overwhelming and her son has been buzzing following his new found fame.
“Our phones started going crazy the day the video was released and they haven’t stopped since. We’ve received lots of messages from friends and family, including many in Broome as well as from people we haven’t heard from for a while which is nice at this time of year.
“Archie is now pretty confident Santa is going to find him this year.”
