Bell Gully retains prestigious ‘Elite’ competition law ranking
Bell Gully’s competition team has been ranked among the best worldwide for the 11th consecutive year by leading competition law publication The Global Competition Review.
The GCR 100 survey of the world’s leading competition law practices named Bell Gully as having an ‘elite’ competition practice, the guide’s highest ranking in New Zealand. The GCR 100 said the team is “ranked yearly as one of New Zealand’s strongest competition practices” and fields “an experienced team”.
The survey highlighted the team’s work advising Carter Holt Harvey’s sale of its pulp, paper and packaging business to Oji Oceania and on the proposed merger of the wool scouring operations of Cavalier Wool Holdings and New Zealand Wool Services International, for which the team secured Commerce Commission authorisation for the merger of the only two wool scouring businesses in New Zealand. The team’s activity in the airline sector was also noted in the survey.
Bell Gully’s competition team is led by partner Torrin Crowther, who in December was included in the Global Competition Review’s widely respected “40 under 40” global survey of the top competition lawyers under the age of 40. He is also named as a leading competition practitioner in other international legal directories includingChambers Asia Pacific and Who’s Who Legal: Competition.
