Trustpower Bolsters Women Dressing for Success
Tauranga-based company Trustpower has gifted Dress for Success Rotorua with boxes of brand new professional women’s wear in a bid to increase the charity’s capability to help women into employment.
Earlier this week, volunteer Kay Littler visited Trustpower in Mount Maunganui, and within days had dressed a young woman for a job interview. Kylie Clifton-Guy was dressed by the team at Dress for Success Rotorua after a quick consultation.
“During the dressing we talked to Kylie about her interview and provided a range of tips and advice,” Kay said.
“Kylie called this morning to say her interview went really well and she expects to hear whether she has the job within 24 hours.”
Since then, Kylie has been in touch to let Kay and her team know that her interview was successful, and she starts work at the end of this month.
“We were so delighted that we had the skirts and jacket from Trustpower, as we are short of her size with our other stock!” Kay says the corporate wear will be well used this year; they have already dressed more than 10 women looking for employment.
Dress for Success provides a service for women entering the workforce for the first time, or after an extended break, or even for those who are without access to corporate wear. Kay and her team of volunteers also coach them into finding work, preparing their CVs, and improving interview skills.
Dress for Success operates under volunteer steam worldwide in 19 countries. There are seven Dress For Success centres in New Zealand, and Kay hopes to see a branch opened in Tauranga in the future.
