Union Will Continue Pickets at Foodstuffs Stores

FIRST union will resume its pickets of Foodstuffs stores in Nelson today despite having its organisers arrested twice yesterday.

Union organisers Bill Bradford say that the union has the right to represent its members and to enter into the workplace and will continue to do so.

Bill Bradford says workers at South Island Foodstuffs Pak n Save and New World supermarkets are paid significantly less than workers in other retail chains and seemed prepare to go to any length to continue to avoid being decent employers.

“They are the Talleys of the retail sector,” he says.

Pickets today will be at:

Richmond Pak n Save 11.39 – 12.30
Nelson New World 1.30 3.00
