MinterEllisonRuddWatts appoints Mike Schubert as Chief Executive

MinterEllisonRuddWatts today announced it has appointed Mike Schubert as its new Chief Executive, effective 1 May 2016.

Cathy Quinn, Chair of MERW said: “Mike is an outstanding leader with broad international and domestic experience. We believe he is not only a great cultural fit for MERW but also that his experience and credentials mean he is the right person to keep driving MERW forward.”

“Mike has a strong track record in professional services, having held senior leadership positions in PwC. He also has experience leading large teams, including when he acted as interim CEO of healthAlliance for 12 months.”

Bruce Hassall, CEO of PwC said: “Mike will be missed for his understated pragmatic and critical thinking style that has helped many clients and partners work through complex and difficult issues. We wish Mike every success in the next stage of his career and look forward to watching him help take MERW to the next level.”

Mike was admitted to the PwC partnership in Wellington in 1988, initially working in Assurance before moving to the Auckland Corporate Finance Practice in 1998. Mike was instrumental in setting up the PwC IFRS conversion practice which enabled the Firm to capitalise from the opportunity of a once in a generation change in financial reporting requirements. Mike later assumed lead partner roles for some of their largest and most complex clients.
