Media Statement
Interim Executive Director for 2020
Trust
Laurence Millar has stepped down from his position as Chair to take up the role of Executive Director, following the resignation of Vanisa Dhiru, who will leave the organisation on 10 March to complete her research and further her academic qualifications.
“The Trust is widely recognised for our strength in building digital capability across New Zealand through programmes such as Computers in Homes, Stepping UP, and Kiwiskills” said Laurence Millar. “Vanisa has made a big contribution in strengthening this capability, and the Trust is well positioned to consider how to ensure all New Zealanders fully participate in the digital world”.
Sarah Bacon, the Deputy Chair, will assume the role of Chair while the Trust moves to appoint a new Executive Director. “We will be looking to appoint a new Executive Director who is able to continue to provide leadership and continue to develop our programmes in response to national needs” said Sarah. “The Trust is sorry to lose Vanisa and we wish her well for the future.”
About 2020 Trust
The 2020
Trust is a registered not-for-profit charitable trust that
was set up in 1996 by the Wellington City Council to promote
digital literacy, initially for Wellington citizens, and in
the year 2000 the scope was extended to include all New
Zealanders. Our vision is for all New Zealanders to be able
to fully participate in a digital world. In order to achieve
this vision, everyone needs the opportunity and the skills
to become digitally literate.
