Changes to postal rates

Changes to postal rates

The cost of sending a medium sized letter by Standard Post will increase 20 cents to $1 from 1 July 2016.

Following its annual price review, New Zealand Post is adjusting prices for some products. Letter volumes have continued to fall sharply at a rate of approximately 60 million items a year. This has impacted revenue and despite significant and ongoing cost reductions some price adjustments are necessary.

Prices will increase for both Standard Post and FastPost from 1 July. A medium sized letter sent within New Zealand will be $1 if sent by Standard Post. The cost of sending the same letter by FastPost will increase 40 cents to $1.80.

There will also be increases for some international and business products including BoxLink, FreePost and Bulk Mail. A full list is available on the New Zealand Post website at www.nzpost.co.nz/july2016.

Domestic parcel prices will remain unchanged in 2016. New Zealand Post will continue to seek ways to improve efficiency and make cost savings to keep the price of sending mail as low as possible in the future.
