TOP 10 Holiday Parks expand to Nelson and Horowhenua

TOP 10 Holiday Parks expand to Nelson and Horowhenua

TOP 10 Holiday Parks today announced the addition of two new properties to its 45-strong portfolio of holiday parks throughout New Zealand. Nelson City TOP 10 and Foxton Beach TOP 10 in Horowhenua have both joined the TOP 10 Group after several years as independent operators or part of other groups.

One of Nelson City TOP 10’s owners, Steve Edwards, said the park’s addition to the TOP 10 stable created a great asset both for Nelson and TOP 10.

“We’ve been an independent park for 10 years and are very happy for it to go to TOP 10 as we see it as a really positive step for the business,” he said. “We already have a number of parks within the group and it’s great for TOP 10 to have a quality four-star park in the heart of Nelson. It’s not very often that people are fortunate enough to have a park so close to the centre of town.”

Described by Edwards as a “small, quaint very tidy little holiday park in the centre of Nelson City”, Nelson City TOP 10 has a maximum capacity of just 140 guests across a mix of motel units, cabins, powered and tent sites. Its proximity to the town centre, as well as being a perfect base from which to explore the region, makes it very popular with the FIT market, particularly travelling couples who want to spend time in Nelson or visit the Abel Tasman National Park.

The new Foxton Beach TOP 10 is just 90 minutes north of Wellington and provides a great stopover option for travellers heading to and from the Cook Straight ferries as well as those looking for a beach getaway. The Qualmark four-star accommodation overlooking the wide, sandy beach is in both cabins and powered and non-powered campsites over four hectares.

Owner Uwe Kroll said the park had received significant investment to ensure it met the high TOP 10 standards. “Over the past months we have completely rebuilt the communal facilities including a state of the art shower block, expanding the already extensive adventure playground and installing a secure entry system,” he said. “We’re delighted to become part of TOP 10 and our stunning location in coastal Horowhenua gives TOP 10 a strong presence in this part of the country that was previously missing.”

David Ovendale, TOP 10 Holiday Park Group chief executive, said the two new parks were both valuable additions to the organisation. “Nelson is a strong destination and we’re delighted to have a quality park right in the heart of this wonderful little city. In addition Foxton is a great spot and extremely popular during the holiday season with lots of opportunity to grow the business outside of high season. Both are parks are excellent additions to our stable and play an essential role in our growth strategy as we continue to build on our standing as New Zealand’s premier holiday park group.”
