Conference celebrates business intelligence
Over the last two days Datacom has been hosting a conference at Council chambers celebrating some of the innovations coming from Council.
Council’s Financial Business Intelligence system (FBI) is one of the key elements of the conference.
Operations Group Manager, Barry Vryenhoek says “FBI has basically streamlined how we access and analyse financial data across the board”
A majority of attendees are from other local government bodies, looking to Council’s finance systems to improve their own.
“Datacom wants to make our FBI system the standard financial reporting tool for all local Government.”
FBI is a user friendly tool for reporting and management of financial data. It uses a simple user interface to easily navigate your way through your financial information through the use of business intelligence.
Council have several other business intelligence tools to showcase, and expect those to be as well received as the FBI system.
“We’re a small Council that covers a big region, so it’s important to create innovative approaches to becoming more efficient,” said Mr Vryenhoek.
The FBI system won an award at the Association for Local Government Information Management (ALGIM) annual ceremony for excellence in innovation. And is up for another award at the Society of Local Government Managers (SOLGM) awards in April.
The Datacom conference will also be looking at Council’s other business intelligence solutions like Performance Business Intelligence (PBI) and Revenue Business Intelligence (RBI).
