Water New Zealand Water Engineers Meeting in Queenstown

Water New Zealand Water Engineers Meeting in Queenstown

We tend to take it for granted that when we turn on the tap, clean water will come out. This week, many of the people who ensure that this happens will be converging on Queenstown for the annual meeting of the Water Service Managers Group.

Host Ulrich Glasner, QLDC’s Chief Engineer, said the forum was a chance to learn about new developments in the sector, discuss common issues and build relationships among council staff and contractors from around the country.

Between them, those attending are responsible for managing water supplies, waste water systems and networks, sewage treatment and stormwater assets. Most district and city councils from around the country will be represented.

The topics the Water Services Managers Group will address include biogas, water demand and training, as well as common issues around three waters.

The meeting begins on Thursday and concludes on Friday with site visits to the Project Shotover upgrade, the developments on Frankton Flats and Veolia’s acoustic sewer line inspection system.
