Sprig & Fern Announces Limited Release
Sprig & Fern Announces Limited Release of New Zealand’s Highest Awarded Pilsner
The Sprig & Fern Brewery has announced a special limited release of its highly coveted Harvest Pilsner, which is touted as New Zealand’s highest awarded pilsner, after claiming four consecutive gold medals at the Brewers’ Guild of New Zealand Beer Awards, from 2012 to 2015.
The success of the Harvest Pilsner lies in its unique brewing process, which includes using freshly picked hops - locally harvested and brewed on the same day - and utilising the entire flower of the hops in the brewing process, to ensure maximum freshness, fragrance and flavour.
Master Brewer at Sprig & Fern, Tracy Banner, says the pilsner presents a unique hop bouquet that embodies the best of Kiwi brewing.
“We have used two freshly picked hops in the creation of the limited release Harvest Pilsner - Motueka and Nelson Sauvin - which are harvested at the Kentishman Hop Farm in Upper Moutere, just a stone's throw away from our brewery,” says Banner.
“A lot of care, consideration and effort has gone into crafting this beautifully balanced pilsner. The secret to creating its unique taste is using the entire flower of those hops, which is not typically done. We also brew on the same day the hops are picked, because fresh is always best.”
“It’s exciting to provide Kiwi beer lovers with the opportunity to enjoy this distinctive brew, which encapsulates citrus and tropical notes, presenting a crisp and dry Pilsner finish that is truly world class.”
Craig Bowen, Competition Manager of the Brewers’ Guild of New Zealand Beer Awards, agrees the acclaimed beer has carved a rightful place amongst the top echelon of New Zealand Pilsners.
“The results speak for
themselves. Harvest Pilsner is a world class beer, having
won four consecutive gold medals in four years. I'm
personally looking forward to a pint or two!”
