Up your veggie intake - switch bread for more veggies!

MEDIA RELEASE

Up your veggie intake - switch bread for more veggies!

Those of us looking for a healthy lunch option should check out Real Eating Awesome Living, a Coromandel business that has just won the backing of some of the country’s top foodies.

The company is one of four winners of the Sustainable Business Network’s Good Food Boost competition. As part of the competition prize the winners all receive eight weeks’ mentoring from some of the country’s top foodies. These include communications guru Martin Yeoman of Assignment, Karen Staples owner and founder of Auckland-based food company Pure Delish, Kim Evans founder of premium food stores Little & Friday, and Mike Murphy managing director of Kokako Organic coffee.

The teams will also take their wares to the FoodBowl food innovation facility in Mangere, where they can test out new production and packaging ideas.

The win is timely for Real Eating Awesome Living, as they are looking for further inspiration to keep up with runaway demand for their tasty gluten, grain free, wheat free, dairy free vegetable bread alternative.

The wraps are made with local ‘cosmetically challenged’ organic vegetables and no preservatives or additives. They can be used as a sandwich alternative, as a pizza base, with dips, toasted or lightly panfried or eaten directly from the packet and are extremely versatile.

House of Dumplings: handmade traditional dumplings from quality ingredients.

Wise Boys Burgers: a busy plant-based burger trailer in Auckland.

The competition is sponsored by Auckland Tourism Events and Economic Development (ATEED).

It was judged by

Angus Brown, Business Development Manager at New Zealand Food Innovation Network;

Connie Clarkson, Panuku Development Auckland;

Wendy Voegelin, Auckland Tourism Events and Economic Development;

Emily Dowding-Smith, Sustainable Business Network.
