Presbyterian Support Take Home Supreme Award

Presbyterian Support has won the Supreme Award at the 2016 Trustpower Dunedin Community Awards.

The Awards were announced and presented tonight (Wednesday, 27 April) at a function at the Toitu Otago Settlers Museum.

For winning the Supreme Award, Presbyterian Support received a framed certificate, a trophy and $1,500 prize money. Presbyterian Support now has the opportunity to represent the district at the 2016 Trustpower National Community Awards, which are being held in the Rotorua district in March 2017.

In total, Trustpower has given away over $5,000 to various community groups through tonight’s Awards.

Trustpower Community Relations Representative Emily Beaton says Presbyterian Support is a volunteer organisation that does it all.

“They are an organisation that has a direct impact across the generations for positive change, strong families and healthy communities. Volunteers are a part of every corner of this organisation, you will find them lending a hand in the nursery as part of the Youthgrow Garden Centre, getting stuck in at the Op shop, sorting and pricing goods, creating window displays or helping customers. You will also find them in the foodbank as part of the FamilyWorks programme, or helping out with community activities.

These volunteers have a huge impact on the community and they are a great asset to the Dunedin community” says Beaton.

The competition for this year’s Trustpower Dunedin Community Awards was strong with 85 groups entered for the Awards.

The Awards are being presented at a function this evening, Wednesday 27 April at the Toitu Otago Settlers Museum, with drinks and nibbles from 5.30pm and the Awards presentation starting at 6pm. Media are welcome to attend.
