Success in real estate comes down to one simple thing – walking the talk, says Shaun Cosgrove, recognised as the number one sales consultation at the Central Region 2015/2016 End of Year Awards for New Zealand’s largest real estate group, Harcourts.
Shaun has worked in the Hamilton area for more than 20 years and in that time has carved out a reputation for himself as an outstanding sales consultant, consistently ranking among Harcourts’ best internationally.
His career sales to date total more than $700 million.
“I think success in this business is really all about listening to people, and if you say you’re going to do something do it,” Shaun says. “There are a lot of voices out there, be the one people can rely on.”
Harcourts NZ CEO Chris Kennedy says Shaun epitomises what it means to be a successful Harcourts sales consultant. “He works incredibly hard and he knows his market, and his clients, better than anybody. He gets great results and that is why is has an ever-growing group of loyal clients who come back to him every time they are buying or selling.”
Other top ranking Harcourts sales consultants for the Central Region in 2015/2016 were Aaron Davey from Hamilton Glenview (2nd) and Theo Smith from Mt Maunganui. (3rd)
Aaron was also recognised as Harcourts’ top lifestyle and rural sales consultant for 2015/16 at the awards.
Aaron is another sales consultant who consistently ranks among Harcourts’ top sellers.
He believes the key to ongoing success in real estate is to get the basics right and keep doing them. “It comes down to things like managing your client database and providing clients with the absolute best level of service so you get that repeat business.”
A highlight of 2016 for Aaron was selling a Tamahere property for a record price.
The top performing NAI Harcourts commercial sales consultant for the Central Region is Mike Neale, who is managing director of the highly successful Hamilton Commercial. It is the third year in a row he has won the award.
Mike says Hamilton Commercial’s success is the result of good groundwork. “A lot of the work we did 10 years ago is now paying dividends. It’s all the smaller sales, the leases, and the relationships that have led to our success today.
“I would say at least 75% of our business is repeat or referral. We mainly deal with properties in Hamilton’s CBD and it’s this focus and regular contact with clients that makes our relationships really strong.”
The top property manager for the region is Rowan Steele of Hamilton Rentals. Rowan says having a strong team is crucial to being a successful property manager.
Chris Kennedy says real estate is a highly competitive industry, and each of the award recipients have excelled by incredible hard work and commitment to an outstanding client experience.
“I have huge admiration for those we recognise at our End of Year awards. They all work incredibly hard and are a big part of the reason Harcourts is New Zealand’s largest and most trusted real estate brand.”
The regional Harcourts 2015/2016 End of Year Awards precede the National Awards event to be held at the upcoming Harcourts Annual Conference at Auckland’s Aotea Centre in 24-25 May. It is the largest real estate conference in New Zealand.
