Businesses flock to use eGST service
More than 1,000 businesses have now successfully filed eGST returns directly to Inland Revenue since the service was first launched in New Zealand by MYOB.
MYOB is the first online accounting software business to offer eGST filing for its customers after launching the service last month, saving time and significantly simplifying the GST submission process for SMEs.
“We’ve had sensational feedback from many of the thousand or so businesses who have used this service,” says MYOB General Manager SME Solutions James Scollay.
“Lodging eGST returns is extremely easy to do through our Essentials online accounting product. It means no more forms, envelopes or calculators.
“MYOB is proud to be the only company in New Zealand to offer the live service to its customers. We are dedicated to the New Zealand and Australian markets, meaning our resources are targeted on bringing local products and services to market faster.”
The way it works is that GST return data is prepopulated through MYOB software, based on the business’s sales. The return can then be securely sent to Inland Revenue directly through the cloud-based platform, and means SME owners do not need to manually enter figures into a separate GST return and print a copy to send to Inland Revenue.
“From working with New Zealand SMEs for more than two decades, we know that simplifying the taxation regime is one of the top priorities for many small business owners.
“MYOB is focused on helping small businesses to succeed. We have a positive working relationship with the Government and are always looking for ways to make business processes easier and better.
Accountant and owner of Transactions Limited Brian Knight says using the online eGST service on behalf of his clients has saved a huge amount of time.
“I’m delighted with the new eGST feature in MYOB Essentials. I’ve just prepared everything my client needs for their GST returns in under 5 minutes. It is an absolutely first rate product,” he says.
“Being first to market with the eGST service is part of our continued focus on New Zealand SMEs,” says Mr Scollay.
“MYOB is transforming our online accounting products to help SMEs grow and succeed. In New Zealand we have more than 350 staff, of which a third are part of the Engineering and Experience team that build services like eGST filing.
“The ability to file GST returns online demonstrates the benefits of cloud-based business accounting software. MYOB is committed to delivering new innovations in business accounting to help New Zealand businesses grow and succeed,” says Mr Scollay.
The functionality is free to existing and new MYOB Essentials customers. More information can be found at www.myob.co.nz and www.ird.govt.nz/transformation
