PRINZ Supreme Award winner – Mango, Fuse and McDonald’s
Claudia Macdonald of Mango, Gina McKinnon of Fuse and Simon Kenny of McDonald’s NZ have been awarded the prestigious Supreme Award for their entry ‘Crave and rave – golden praise drives results for golden arches’ at the annual PRINZ Awards.
Category winners, highly commended entries and the Supreme Award were announced at the PRINZ Awards Gala Dinner in Auckland on Thursday 12 May, with representatives from Mango, Fuse and McDonald’s teams presented with the Supreme Award for its top campaign.
The awards recognise excellence in New Zealand’s public relations and communications industry, promote continuous improvement and celebrate best practice. This year’s awards attracted a record 69 entries from around the country, with eight winners eligible for the overall Supreme Award.
Winners from each category were judged by a Supreme judging panel consisting of Lisa Finucane, Awards Chief Judge, Bruce Fraser, PRINZ President and Gordon Chesterman PRINZ Life member, to determine the Supreme Winner.
Chief Judge Lisa Finucane, FPRINZ, said the entry encompassed both strong professionalism and the WOW factor that identifies winning campaigns.
“This campaign was solidly planned and implemented; from the original research to the execution to the evaluation it holds its own as an exemplar of best practice,” she said.
“What gave it the winning edge though was the way it targeted and convinced key stakeholders to ‘crave and rave (about)’ the new McDonald’s ‘Create your Taste’ burger experience. They created a positive experience around an organisation that often attracts more disapproval than applause.”
All category winners are eligible to enter the global COMM PRIX Awards organised by the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management. This year there are two previous PRINZ Awards winners from 2015 who are finalists in the COMM PRIX awards – Spark PR & Activate and HMC Communications.
