The Search Is On For New Zealand’s Top Electricial Apprentice

Master Electricians is calling for electrical apprentices from around the country to show off their talent and passion by competing in the 2016 Electrical Apprentice of the Year Competition (The Challenge).

Entries for The Challenge are now open, and apprentices can be in to win a share of more than $5,000 in prizes, as well as the prestigious title of 2016 Electrical Apprentice of the Year.

Master Electricians Chief Executive Neville Simpson says apprentices are in high demand across all trades in New Zealand and the goal of The Challenge is to promote the benefits of electrical apprenticeships.

“The Challenge is about celebrating the work of our apprentices and recognising excellence, quality and innovation in our trade. It’s a great way for apprentices to kick off their careers – they get to build their confidence, capability and leadership skills and meet others in the industry” says Mr Simpson.

“The quality of work from the apprentices that take part in The Challenge demonstrates the outstanding contribution that apprentices make in our industry.”

“It’s a great chance for employers to let their apprentices showcase their skills, so I’d encourage them to get their apprentices entered in The Challenge.”

The Challenge has both Domestic/Commercial and Industrial Divisions, with competition first at a local level (prelims). The top 10 place-getters nationwide will then go through to the finals, held in Taupo this October.

The Challenge is made possible through the support of Skills, NHP, Rockwell Automation, Marley, J.A. Russell Ltd, Philips, HPM Legrand and Vynco.
