Snow Farm postpones opening day

Snow Farm postpones opening day

Snow Farm NZ has postponed its opening day, originally scheduled for Saturday 18 June, due to recent unseasonably warm weather affecting the resort's network of cross country skiing trails.

Ski field management will continue to monitor snow conditions over the weekend and provide further updates as soon as possible.

John Hogg, trustee of the Pisa Alpine Charitable Trust that manages Snow Farm said he was obviously disappointed by the delayed opening but remained positive about the season ahead.

“We were all set to open but Mother Nature decided not to play ball with warmer temperatures and a touch of rain over the last few days. The groomer has been out to compact the good early season snow coverage across the trails but it needs one more snowfall to enable full grooming,” he said.

“It’s going to be a very exciting season with more activities at Snow Farm than ever before. As well as 55km of cross country skiing trails there's fatbiking, our new snow fun zone and new snow shoeing trails. We offer great value beginner ski packages as well as regular ladies’, masters’ and endurance programmes, locals’ days and our famous full moon fondue. Fingers crossed we’ll be open for business very soon.”

John Hogg said anyone wanting further updates and information about Snow Farm should visit snowfarmnz.com or the resort’s Facebook page.
