Tahiti Tourisme Partners with New App to Generate Social Media Content
Tahiti Tourisme has partnered with new social media publishing platform Townske to launch a promotion to develop inspirational content on the Islands of Tahiti, boosting the destination’s presence in the influential world of social media.
Tahiti Tourisme is offering six Townske users from Australia and New Zealand the opportunity to win a trip to the destination to build Tahiti content on the app, which relies on user-generated content to create visual city guides.
The six successful Townske users will travel to Tahiti in November, with the aim of producing guides to highlight Tahiti’s food, culture, arts and nature. The six-day trip includes flights to Tahiti with Air Tahiti Nui, accommodation and excursions.
Anyone can enter by downloading the app and publishing one or more Townske guides on any destination between now and September, adding the monthly themed Tahiti hashtag to their guide. The theme for June is food (#TownskexTahitiFood), while July is all about arts and culture (#TownskexTahitiArts), and August is the month for nature guides (#TownskexTahitiNature). September is the last chance to enter with guides on any of the three subjects acceptable. The monthly finalists will be chosen based on their creativity, quality and relevance of their photography and writing, as well as the usefulness of their guide.
Tahiti Tourisme Director Australia and New Zealand Robert Thompson said with travellers increasingly turning to social media and the internet in search of holiday inspiration, the partnership with Townske was a great opportunity to increase awareness of Tahiti’s unique attributes with a new audience.
“Bora Bora is one of the most recognisable places on earth, but there is much more to Tahiti than just sparkling blue lagoons and overwater bungalows. We’re looking forward to showing the Townske winners all the destination has to offer, including a few hidden treasures, so that they can share their travel insights with other like-minded travellers,” Mr Thompson said.
Townske Co-Founder and CEO Daniel Clark said it was great to partner with a social media savvy destination like Tahiti that saw the value in user-generated content.
“Townske is a global platform that lets anyone travel the world with the knowledge of thousands of local contributors in their pocket. Because the Tahiti guides will be written by everyday Australians and Kiwis, they will appeal to a wide range of visitors and will help them find their own authentic Tahitian experience without endlessly researching,” Mr Clark said.
Townske is an app and website (townske.com) that allows people to share and discover visual city guides so travellers can quickly and easily enjoy any city in the world. The platform currently features more than 5200 city guides covering more than 1500 cities in more than 140 countries. Download the app at townske.com/app and search for Tahiti Tourisme.
