The NZDUSD opens at 0.7172 (mid-rate) this morning.

.The NZD is slightly higher against the majority of its trading partners after another quiet night as investors await the UK referendum.

Once again the polls show the “Leave” campaign with a very slender lead, while the bookies have the “Remain” campaign as firm favourites. The UK has a population of 64 million and of those a record number of 46 million people have registered to vote. Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair has described the vote as "probably the biggest decision the country will have taken since the Second World War." The result of the referendum is expected to be declared tomorrow afternoon.

Global equity markets are mixed - Dow -0.12%, S&P 500 -0.05%, FTSE +0.56%, DAX +0.55%, CAC +0.29%, Nikkei -0.64%, Shanghai +0.94%.

Gold prices continue to edge down currently trading $1,264 an ounce, WTI Crude Oil is up 0.5% from yesterday currently trading at $49.11 a barrel.
