NZ Post parcel collection rolls out to more Countdown shops

NZ Post parcel collection rolls out to more Countdown supermarkets

4 July 2016: Following a successful trial in Auckland, customers of NZ Post and its courier service CourierPost will soon be able to choose to have their packages redirected to one of 38 Countdown supermarkets around the country for pick-up.

Countdown began trialling the service in 11 stores in December 2015, which has seen more than 5,000 parcels collected from Countdown.

Over the next month an additional 27 Countdown stores in Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin will offer the convenient collection service.

Countdown General Manager Operations, Brett Ashley, says parcel collection is an innovative service customers can take advantage of while they do their grocery shopping.

“The trial in our Auckland stores went well, and we’re excited to extend the parcel collection service to further locations around the country.

With most of our stores open until at least 10pm seven days a week, customers have the flexibility to collect their parcels when they want and combine it with a trip to the supermarket so it’s all in one place. This is another way we can help make our customers’ lives easier,” says Mr Ashley.

Parcels for collection are held securely at the Countdown service desk. Customers will be sent an email by New Zealand Post as soon as their parcel arrives in store, advising them to collect it.

There is no additional service charge for this pick-up option. Customers will be required to show the notification email and present photo ID to complete the parcel collection.
