Deloitte bolsters cloud and digital offerings with Sixtree

Innovative platform engineering & integration an expanded focus for Deloitte

Deloitte expands its technology offerings, with the team from trans-Tasman integration specialist Sixtree to join the professional services firm in New Zealand and Australia.

Sixtree works with clients to embrace a platform-led approach to structuring and integrating legacy and emerging technologies more effectively and securely.

Sixtree was founded in Australia in 2010 and established a New Zealand arm in Auckland. Their team will form the core of a new platform engineering community within Deloitte consulting’s technology practice.

The New Zealand business’ principal consultant Damian Harvey will become a Deloitte consulting partner, and the New Zealand Sixtree team will join Deloitte in Auckland.

Across the Tasman founders Ben Wylie and Yamen Sader will become Deloitte partners and the 45-strong team will join Deloitte in Melbourne and Sydney.

Deloitte chief executive Thomas Pippos says the move is another strategic investment for the firm’s cloud and digital end-to-end solution offerings.

“By essentially re-engineering and integrating an organisation’s systems, the deep expertise offered by the Sixtree team will help increase business agility by bringing legacy and new technologies together quickly, seamlessly and effectively,” says Mr Pippos.

“The capabilities of Sixtree team are relevant for organisations of every size, and across all sectors, and are increasingly required as part of large-scale transformation projects,” he adds.

“Sixtree provides another option for businesses that have become rigid and potentially trapped by outdated, unintegrated technology systems, to become ‘younger’ and more agile by wrapping digital applications and new technologies into an adaptable platform.”

Sixtree’s Damian Harvey says the cultural fit between the two organisations was an important factor in their decision to merge with Deloitte.

“Our client-centric business values match well with Deloittes’, along with our commitment to innovation and change. They get what we do and the value we can deliver, and there are clear synergies, complementary skills and capabilities in terms of what we are doing and where we want to go,” says Mr Harvey.

Sixtree specialises in a range of leading technologies, including those from MuleSoft, Red Hat, Elastic, and Amazon Web Services.

The Sixtree move builds on other technology and related transactions Deloitte has achieved in recent years, including the 2013 acquisitions of Asparona and Tango and the 2014 merger with Takapuna firm Diablo.
