Singapore Airlines Appoints Manager for Wellington and South Island
Singapore Airlines today announced the appointment of Ms Kate Mayo as Manager Wellington and South Island as preparations continue ahead of the launch of the historic ‘Capital Express’ in September. Ms Mayo will take up the new role from Monday 1 August 2016, 51 days prior to the arrival of the inaugural Wellington – Canberra – Singapore service.
Singapore Airlines’ General Manager New Zealand, Mr Simon Turcotte, said Ms Mayo’s appointment was well deserved following a successful period as Manager South Island.
“Kate has been with Singapore Airlines in New Zealand since 2012 and has shown great potential and leadership during her four years with the company,” Mr Turcotte said.
“Having started as a Management Trainee in our Auckland office in 2012 Kate was rewarded with a promotion to Manager of South Island in 2014.
“She has done a tremendous amount of work during her two years in Christchurch and thoroughly deserves the opportunity to lead our operations in Wellington.”
In addition to maintaining her responsibilities for operations in the South Island, Kate will also manage the new Wellington operation, which will consist of a total of 11 staff, covering operations and sales. Kate will relocate to Wellington to take up the new role.
Ms Mayo welcomed the chance to lead Singapore Airlines new operation in Wellington and said she was excited by the opportunities that the new position provided.
“It is an exciting time for Singapore Airlines in New Zealand. We recently celebrated our fortieth anniversary in Auckland, in September we’ll welcome the new service to Wellington and in October we’ll celebrate our thirtieth anniversary in Christchurch,” Ms Mayo said.
“We have enjoyed a wonderful relationship with New Zealand over a long period of time and I am looking forward to building on this as we launch the ‘Capital Express’ service that will take Wellington to the world.
“I am also looking
forward to continuing the great relationships Singapore
Airlines has held for many years with the local travel
industry in Wellington and surrounding areas as well as
strengthening our strong relationships with our partners in
the South Island.”
