Northland Food and Wines to star at Auckland Food Show
Nine of Northland’s finest award-winning food and wine producers will be out to tantalise the tastebuds when they debut on the inaugural Northland stand at the prestigious Auckland Food Show this week.
The Northland Food and Wine Collective will be presenting some of the region’s best produce of wines, liqueurs, honey, cheese, seasoning and olives to give visitors a true taste of Northland.
Producers representing Northland are Te Whai Bay Wines, Millars Vineyard, The Landing Wines, Rawhiti Manuka Honi, Olives on the Hill, Grinning Gecko Cheese Company, Down at the Farm, For the Love of Tams (NZ Tamarillo Co-operative Ltd) and Sovrano Limoncello which when combined make up a perfect antipasto platter.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for Northland Food and Wines to let people sample our produce and for putting the region on show to the thousands of people who will visit the Food show,” says collective facilitator and Northland Inc Business Growth Manager David Templeton.
“As a food and wine destination Northland has been raising its profile since the relaunch of the collective at Taste of Auckland last November which has been pleasing to see.”
The Landing Wines marketing co-ordinator Bayley Lord says, “being part of the collective has been good because it allows us the opportunity to get our brand name out there. It is also good for Northland because it shows we have different products in the region,” Bayley says.
Award-winning Grinning Gecko Cheese company owner Catherine McNamara says the Food Show provides a great opportunity to showcase what Northland producers have to offer.
“We very strongly believe in Northland and we know we have fantastic produce here. The rest of New Zealand tends to underestimate us as a region” Catherine says.
She adds, “The support Northland Inc provides makes it possible for us to be there after having been at the Wellington Food Show, the Seriously Good Food Show in Tauranga and the Fine Food Show in Auckland.”
The diversity of Northland food and beverage producers, and the complementary nature of their products will surprise and delight visitors to the show.
The Auckland Food Show will be at the ASB Showgrounds from Thursday 28 through to Sunday 31 July.
