Spark to credit costs of calls and texts to Italy

Media Release

25 August 2016

Spark to credit costs of calls and texts to Italy

Spark announced today it will credit its customers for the cost of landline and mobile calls and texts to Italy following the devastating earthquakes on Wednesday morning local time.

Spark CEO for Home, Mobile and Business Jason Paris said: “Our thoughts are with the people of Italy, any Italians in New Zealand, and those New Zealanders who have family in Italy at the moment.”

“We know many people will be desperately trying to get in touch with friends and family to make sure they’re safe, especially over the coming days. This is just a small thing we can do to help out.”

The credit will apply to direct dial calls (00 and 0161) and texts, made from New Zealand home phones or mobile phones, to Italy from 1.30pm (NZT) Wednesday 24 August until 1.30pm (NZT) Saturday 27 August.

The credits will be retrospectively applied to customers’ accounts in either their August or September bills, depending on their bill cycle – so customers do not need to do anything.
