Fair Go award for Hyundai’s
‘Let’s Get lost’ TV advert
Hyundai
has won the prestigious Fair Go Best Ad Award for its Tucson
‘Let’s Get Lost’ TV advert. Fair Go presenter Pippa
Wetzell surprised the Hyundai team mid-morning to present
the award – and a celebratory cake.
Hyundai New Zealand General Manager Andy Sinclair says the ad campaign was evolved from the original, which launched in 2015 to mostly positive response but at the end of that year received Fair Go’s Worst Ad Award.
“We were surprised at the feedback from last year’s awards, because feedback from our customers was mostly very positive. But the strength of any company is in its ability to pay attention to how people feel about such things. We listened to the feedback, considered and responded with an updated, evolved version,” Mr Sinclair said.
“A good advert, he added, “”should always prompt a reaction from the viewer, and for some, the line between best and worst can be very finely drawn.”
The awards are judged by the show’s audience, who “seem to have recognised and appreciated the changes we made.”
“We are humbled by this wonderful response because the Best Ad Award judges are of course the people of New Zealand, people living in the communities we are part of.”
The ad features 10 year old Kayla and a blue Hyundai Tucson visiting and enjoying some of New Zealand’s most-loved wild places.
“Kayla will be really excited to hear about this award, and we’ll be phoning the family to let her know. To be honest last year’s award was a little tough for her, she put her heart and soul into the shoot so now she can be very proud of the recognition. We always knew that we’d found a super-star with Kayla. She was amazing to work with and just a great talent,” said Mr Sinclair.
