CHAPMAN TRIPP ANNOUNCES FOUR NEW PARTNERS

Chapman Tripp is pleased to announce the appointment of four new partners, effective 1 December 2016.

In the Auckland office, Joshua Pringle becomes a corporate partner, Marie Wisker an employment partner and Bevan Miles, a tax partner.

In our Wellington office, Greg Wise becomes a property partner.

“These promotions demonstrate our aspirations for – and continued investment in – each of these teams, and will strengthen the 50-strong partnership that forms New Zealand’s leading law firm,” said Chief Executive Partner Nick Wells.

Auckland

Joshua Pringle, Corporate

Joshua specialises in negotiating and executing strategic M&A transactions, public and private. With particular experience in private equity, he also advises on a full range of corporate, securities, shareholder and regulatory matters, including issues arising under the NZX Listing Rules, the Takeovers Code and the overseas investment regime. Joshua re-joined Chapman Tripp in 2011 after several years at leading New York firm Cravath, Swaine & Moore, and is a member of the New York Bar.

Marie Wisker, Employment and health & safety

Marie specialises in employment law and health and safety, and acts for a number of the firm’s key clients, many of which are large employers. She has represented clients in numerous mediations and Employment Relations Authority hearings, has experience in acting for employers on health and safety investigations and prosecutions and works alongside clients to help them understand the new health and safety regime.

Bevan Miles, Tax

Bevan specialises in taxation law. He advises on a wide range of tax matters, including restructuring, international transactions and transfer pricing, significant mergers and acquisitions, financing and capital raising transactions, and tax disputes with the Inland Revenue Department (IRD). Bevan joined Chapman Tripp in late 2015 from ASB Bank where he had overall responsibility for the tax affairs of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s (CBA) New Zealand group.

Wellington

Greg Wise, Property

Greg specialises in infrastructure, construction law and commercial property and has advised on some of New Zealand’s most significant property and infrastructure transactions. He has extensive experience across a wide range of infrastructure, utilities and property matters and also advises a broad range of clients on contracting issues. Prior to joining Chapman Tripp in 2008, Greg spent a number of years as advisor and in-house corporate counsel at Spark.
