Leighs Construction - Associate Partner of the Highlanders

A WIN WIN PARTNERSHIP AS LEIGHS CONSTRUCTION ANNOUNCED ASSOCIATE PARTNER OF THE HIGHLANDERS

For immediate release: Friday 9th December 2016

Leighs Construction Limited is exciting to be kick starting the New Year as Associate Partner of The Highlanders, further reinforcing the leading commercial construction company’s commitment to and huge support for the Otago region.

“Our naming as the official Construction Company of the Highlanders gives us great pride. We’ve been working at the University of Otago for the past year and the team are loving both working and living in Dunedin. We’re here for the long term and are presently seeking out further construction opportunities in the region,” says Leighs Construction managing director Anthony Leighs.

As well as Leighs Construction delivering the University of Otago Science Precinct redevelopment project, Leighs Cockram JV, of which Leighs Construction is a 50 per cent shareholder, is also constructing the University’s new Dental School redevelopment project.

“These are exiting times both for the university and for Dunedin as a city. Not to mention for us as a national construction company, to be both working on such prestigious projects and now to be partnering with one of the country’s top sports teams. Our people are immensely proud of this partnership, and we’ll certainly be flying the blue and gold flag into the future,” says Anthony.

Highlanders Commercial Manager Mike Kerr says, “We are thrilled to partner with Leighs Construction, a successful company with a national profile but a local focus. As a sports team that is important to the social fabric to our community, it’s fantastic to align with likeminded commercial partners like Leighs Construction, who want to contribute to our community also. Keep an eye out for some exciting initiatives in 2017 and beyond”.

This is not the southernmost region Leighs Construction has operated in. A team has recently returned from Antarctica, where they have been carrying out a refurbishment and extension at the Hilary Field Centre at Scott base, which Leighs constructed back in 2005.

Leighs Construction was established by Anthony Leighs in 1995, and has grown into a multi-million-dollar construction company. A wealth and breadth of knowledge and accumulated expertise enables Leighs Construction to deliver construction projects across a number of sectors, including education, health, commercial, retail, primary industry and government, both at home in New Zealand and overseas. Leighs Construction is an award winning business, and has been celebrated on a regular basis by the New Zealand construction industry.
