Grand Mercure Auckland: Celebrating life, diversity and the city’s urban rebirth

Following an extensive $22 million refurbishment, AccorHotels New Zealand are delighted to announce the rebranding of Mercure Auckland to Grand Mercure Auckland, hot off the heels of launching Grand Mercure Wellington last month.

This stunning redevelopment manifests Auckland’s urban rebirth as the city evolves and reflects the life and soul of its bubbling multiculturalism and diversity while enchanting visitors with its intoxicating mix of cosmopolitan life and natural beauty.

The extensive refurbishment completely overhauls the guest journey which begins by stepping through the doors to be received by stunning glass fantails, created by internationally renowned glass artist Luke Jacomb, described as ‘one the world’s most inventive and talented glassmakers.

On street level, a new alfresco social eatery has been added, Custom Lane, which transforms from café to bar as day shifts to night, capturing a sense of the lively Britomart through eclectic street art and creative design elements.

AccorHotels’ Senior Vice President Operations, New Zealand, Fiji and French Polynesia, Gillian Millar said: “Following an extensive transformation and the exciting addition of Custom Lane to tap into Britomart’s social scene, Grand Mercure Auckland redefines the upscale brand in Australasia.”

“We are delighted to announce another Grand Mercure in the region. Grand Mercure is an internationally recognisable brand name in the upscale hotel space, and we saw an opportunity to further leverage the brand’s presence in New Zealand while upscaling our guests’ experience.”

The significant investment has brought to life the hotel’s 207 rooms and suites, carefully designed and decorated to evoke relaxation using harmonious textures and botanic shades. The suites are designed to depict Auckland’s changing urban landscape via their names, such as Devonport and Waihorotiu; the river which ran through what is now the iconic Queen Street.

The cosy library, richly decorated with warm gold tones and leather, invites guests to pick from a selection of some of New Zealand’s finest literature for their reading pleasure.

The hotel’s state of the art yoga studio innovatively allows guests access to ‘Fitness on Demand’ their normal daily routine, emphasising wellbeing and health among the hustle and bustle of life and travel.

The rooftop Vue Restaurant and Attica Bar boasts unobstructed views of Auckland’s skyline and harbour, matched by fine cuisine showcasing New Zealand’s outstanding produce and wines.

Grand Mercure Auckland sits conveniently adjacent to the Britomart precinct nearby thriving Viaduct Harbour, nestled in the heart of Auckland’s CBD and celebrates the lively nature of the City of Sails while providing the haven everyone desires equally.

Grand Mercure Auckland is located at 8 Customs Street, Auckland CBD, New Zealand and joins a network of over 40 Grand Mercure hotels in the Asia-Pacific Region.

Experience the newly rebranded Grand Mercure Auckland from $204.00 per night including breakfast.
