Rova Turns One And Announces Its First Ever Rovacast

MediaWorks’ digital streaming app rova turns one this month and is celebrating with the announcement of its first ever rovacast, as well as a special pop-up channel.

The rovacast of the 2018 HSBC New Zealand Sevens, streaming on Saturday February 3 and Sunday February 4 from FMG Stadium Waikato in Hamilton, will embrace the true spirit of the NZ Sevens with a core commentary team of leading sports broadcasters and an extended cast of MediaWorks personalities. Just like NZ Sevens rugby, it’ll be fast, furious and anything can happen!

The rovacast commentary team features sports funnyman James McOnie, The Rock’s sports guy John Day, Newshub rugby fiends Kirstie Stanway and Tom Bartlett, along with Ling and Zing from The Block, The Edge Breakfast’s Dom, Meg & Randell, Nickson & Lily from Mai Morning Crew, Thane & Dunc from The Rock Drive, and many more.

In addition, from now until the rovacast kicks off on February 3, rova is also hosting a NZ Sevens Stadium Anthems pop-up channel, playing all the songs that rock the Sevens.

Leon Wratt, Group Content Director – Music, MediaWorks Radio said: “We are thrilled with the growth of rova in its first year. The success of Polly & Grant’s All Day Breakfast and promotions such as The Rock 1500 have clearly demonstrated the audience’s appetite for the platform. The upcoming HSBC New Zealand Sevens rovacast is just the first of many exciting new initiatives we are undertaking as we continue to extend the rova brand in 2018.”

Since launching in January 2017, rova has grown exponentially with 11 million streams served, 263,000 total downloads and 78,000 unique monthly users.
