HiFX Data Update - NZ Q4 Retail Sales Release

NZ Retail numbers for Q4 have just been released.

They came in better than expected:

Adjusted Retail Sales Volume (Q4) +1.7% (Consensus +1.4%)

Actual Q4 Retail Sales rose 5.4% compared with same quarter last year.

Q3 figures were revised higher to +0.3% from +0.2%.

Retail sales values were lifted by increases in food & beverage services and grocery sales.

The NZD is a little higher in immediate response.

Current indicative levels are:

NZD-USD 0.7330 / 0.7355
NZD-AUD 0.9345 / 0.9370
NZD-EUR 0.5940 / 0.5965
NZD-GBP 0.5245 / 0.5270
NZD-JPY 78.25 / 78.50
NZD-CAD 0.9315 / 0.9340
