Pernod Ricard Responsib’ALL Day:

18,500 employees around the globe support local community projects

• 18,500 Pernod Ricard employees worldwide will dedicate an estimated 148,000 hours to volunteer in local community projects.

• A total of 9,000 native trees will be planted to preserve New Zealand’s water ways.

National, Wednesday, 06 June 2018: Pernod Ricard’s 8th Responsib’ALL day will see 18,500 employees worldwide engage in over 100 local community projects to show their commitment and contribution to society.

In New Zealand, over 400 Pernod Ricard employees will support their local communities by partaking in restoration projects across regional New Zealand parks. A total of 9,000 native trees will be planted on Pernod Ricard New Zealand’s 8th Responsib’ALL Day to preserve New Zealand’s water ways. By planting these native trees, they will act as a filter removing contaminants such as waste and plastics from local streams and oceans.

Throughout the day, employees will also learn about the history and native species of each site, including the World War II heritage site at Godley Head in Canterbury along with Conservation Volunteers New Zealand and the Department of Conservation, and the longfin eel at Point England Regional Park in Tamaki, Auckland.

Kevin Mapson, Managing Director for Pernod Ricard New Zealand said, “Responsib’ALL Day is our global initiative where all our teams have the opportunity to come together on the same day to support the environment and the communities in which we operate.

“This year we are proud to partner with local charities, Conservation Volunteers New Zealand, local councils and the Department of Conservation on projects across the country in Christchurch, Marlborough, Hawke’s Bay, and two sites in the Auckland region.”

Pernod Ricard participates in projects to support the local environment and community in New Zealand, activity includes:

• Marlborough have restored a native wetland at the Stoneleigh Kaituna Vineyard in the Wairau Valley, regenerating natural habitats for native New Zealand wildlife such as the tui, longfin eel and native trees.

• Tamaki is reducing waste to landfill by providing used cardboard wine boxes to a local hospice for transporting donations across the Auckland region.

• Hawke’s Bay is now providing electric car charging ports at the Church Road Cellar Door in line with its commitment to supporting renewable energy initiatives.

• Pernod Ricard New Zealand Head Office: 120 employees planting 4,000 native trees at Waitawa Regional Park, Clevedon

• Tamaki – Packaging & Distribution Warehouse: 110 employees planting 3,000 native trees at Point England Reserve.

Responsib’ALL Day around the globe

• In line with Pernod Ricard’s commitment against plastic pollution, 40 projects will be dedicated to clean water where employees will clean lakes, rivers and beaches, including Sweden, Germany, France, Brazil, China, Australia, Philippines, Belgium, South Africa, Finland, Korea, Japan, United Kingdom and Turkey.

• The Group is also working with bartenders, Trash Tiki, a unique cocktail duo who create elaborate cocktail recipes made from food scraps from bars and restaurants.

• Pernod Ricard employees globally are acting to help 470 species such as owls in Argentina, birds in Serbia, butterflies in India, as well as 13,500 flora species planted in numerous countries.

• In Paris and Cognac, more than 80 compost bins and 80 insect houses will be built to increase biodiversity.

• In the US, Kenwood & Mumm Napa will build a network of sustainable trails that provide sustainable benefits to the public and the environment throughout Sonoma County.

• In Portugal, employees will participate in reforestation following fires in October 2017.

• In Kiev, Ukraine, a public waste collection point will be created for citizens and organisations who sort waste for recycling.
