Dunedin Institute of Directors governance course ends on high note
A six-month governance course for Otago and Southland directors and businesspeople ended on a high note at the Dunedin Club last night (Monday 3 September).
Twenty-four up and coming company directors from around Otago and Southland undertook the six-month part-time Dunedin-based Institute of Directors Governance Development Programme.
The representatives from companies, government, academia, marketing, finance and community organisations learnt about what it takes to be a board director in governance.
The Governance Development Programme run by the Otago Southland Branch was presented by a panel of national professional presenters and well-known, experienced Otago directors, Stuart McLauchlan and Kathy Grant.
“The course is for aspiring and new
directors, senior executives, people running small and
medium businesses, people on community or trust boards and
not-for-profit organisations, “ says IoD Otago Southland
Branch Chair, Geoff Thomas.
“As well as helping
people come to grips with the essentials of good governance,
it’s a great way to make friends with other people
involved in governance, and build a valuable network
community of peers.”
On the course were: Aimee Te Tau,
Amelia Steel, Chris Cope, Claire Williams, Craig Osborne,
Dave Tozer, David Ford, Dean Delaney, Jamie Cargill, Joe
