Pic’s Peanut Butter has met its match – Pic’s Really Good Boysenberry Jelly

New Zealand’s iconic peanut butter maker Pic’s, has now released Pic’s Really Good Boysenberry Jelly. The new product is made from boysenberries grown within five kilometres of the company’s Nelson factory.

“It’s a perfect fit for us,” says Pic Picot, owner of Pic’s Peanut Butter. “Nelson Tasman grows the most boysenberries in the world and Tasman Bay Berries’ Glen and Maree grow them just down the road. We Nelsonians get to eat them fresh off the vine in December but the rest of the world hardly ever sees them, which is a pity because they’re unbelievably nutritious and boysenberries go really well with peanut butter.”

Pic began making natural peanut butter eleven years ago when he became disillusioned by the sugary product then being sold in supermarkets. His decision to include a sweetened product in the Pic’s range has surprised some Kiwis, but he is unapologetic.

“Sugar is a really useful natural preservative,” he enthuses. “I love capturing summer in a jar and eating a little bit with my morning peanut butter on toast.”

The sugar levels in Pic’s Boysenberry Jelly are too low for it to be labelled as jam, and the company has removed all the pips, making a unique, smooth textured spread with 55% fruit. Once opened it should be stored in the fridge.

Pic’s Really Good Boysenberry Jelly is best served cold with their crunchy Peanut Butter. It will be available nationwide in New World supermarkets from mid-October 2018.
