Franchise Awards a chance to celebrate community involvement

Tickets are now on sale for the Westpac New Zealand Franchise Awards 2018 on Saturday 10th November, which celebrates best practice in Franchising in New Zealand and highlights business support for local communities.

There will be a number of awards to be celebrated including the Community Involvement Franchise System of the year, and Community Involvement Franchisee of the year awards.

Robyn Pickerill CEO of Franchise Association of New Zealand (FANZ) says “A favourite award of mine is the Community Service Award as it never ceases to amaze me what great work franchisors and franchisees are doing in their local communities.

“We recently surveyed our members and found that 83% of Franchisors contribute significantly to the community with 46% giving more than $20,000 per annum back to their local community - and we feel this is definitely something worth celebrating,” she says.

Last year Fastway Couriers NZ, took out the Community Involvement Franchise System of the year award. Fastways is involved in the community at a national level in several areas, such as 'Red Nose Day' for Cure Kids, 'Daffodil Day' for Cancer Society support, and 'Heads up For Kids' which provides education funds for children.

Jesters Mt Wellington won the Community Involvement Franchisee of the year supporting The Salvation Army and Food Banks in the Mount Wellington area, plus a percentage from pie sales was given to local schools.

“Although there will be many wonderful achievements to celebrate on November 10th, what I’m really looking forward to is hearing more of these great stories of local businesses giving back to the communities that support them,” says Robyn.
