Trade Me launches emoji
Trade Me has today announced that members can now use emoji when responding to and asking questions onsite.
Chief Product & Technology Officer Simon Young said emoji are used in billions of messages everyday* and have become a universal language of communication.
“Kiwis love to use emojis and now they can use them to communicate with other Trade Me members onsite. We think they’re going to this new feature.
“What this also means is that members can now use macrons and characters from other languages within the Q&A section. We hope this will allow Trade Me members to communicate more freely and get even more value from Q&A on the listings that interest them.”
Mr Young said New Zealanders have been asking for the emoji keyboard to be enabled on Trade Me and now the entire 2,789-character library can be used on the questions and answers section of any listing.
“This is the first step to enable emoji on Trade Me. If our members are really into it, we’ll look at enabling it on listing descriptions, feedback and more in future.”
