Head of Provincial Development Unit appointed

6 March 2019

Chief Executive of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment Carolyn Tremain has announced the appointment of Robert Pigou as the Head of the Provincial Development Unit (PDU).

“I am delighted to announce Robert’s appointment to this role, which is critical to delivering MBIE’s work to support thriving and sustainable regions,” Ms Tremain said.

“Robert has extensive experience across the private and public sectors, including in senior roles at EY, AsiaPower Developments Limited and Lloyds Bank/The National Bank of New Zealand/Southpac. He has more recently served in senior roles in the public sector, including as Deputy Secretary Courts at the Ministry of Justice.”

Robert Pigou’s substantive role prior to his appointment was as Head of Investment Management at the PDU. He was appointed Acting Head of the PDU following Nigel Bickle’s resignation earlier this year.

“Robert’s commercial background and experience in the public sector, coupled with his ability to build strong and enduring relationships will be well utilised within the PDU,” Ms Tremain added.

Robert Pigou will take up the role on 11 March 2019.
