Criminals beware: a new
locally-produced crime awareness programme will show viewers
how they can best help Police in solving crimes against
individuals and property.
AA Insurance Police Alert is a 13-week series which will screen on TV One at 7 pm on Sundays from August 29.
AA Insurance general manager, Chris Curtin, said his company's involvement in the programme was an investment in reducing crime against individuals and property.
"The cost of crime has a direct impact on the insurance industry and the pockets of the public in the form of insurance premiums. Anything we can do as an insurance company to assist the Police to solve crime will have benefits for all New Zealanders.
"This programme is a partnership with the Police. Their objectives are to solve crime and raise community awareness as to ways in which citizens can keep themselves and their property safe," said Chris Curtin.
Tip sheets conveying key points from each Sunday's programme will be available throughout the following week from the Automobile Association's 55 AA Centres throughout New Zealand or by calling AA Insurance on free-phone 0800 TRUST AA (0800 878-782).
AA Insurance Police Alert will feature real life stories in which witnesses and victims talk about their experiences. The programme will highlight what could have been done to prevent or lessen the crime and progress the Police enquiry.
"Crime hurts everyone in the community - physically, emotionally, socially and financially - we hope that most of all, AA Insurance Police Alert helps and reassures honest Kiwis", said Chris Curtin.
