FAULTLINE CRACKS... PAUA ON
The presciently named Faultline Bar in Wellington's Oaks Complex has gone into liquidation. The site formerly hosted the also ill-fated Bishop and Actress Bar.
And, as is usually the case in the hospitality capital, when one place closes... another opens. New on the scene is The Paua Bar on Cambridge Terrace, heading south from the Embassy past the Deluxe Cafe and Chariot.

EAT MORE FISH, GET PUFA, CHEER UP?
A Finnish study has shown that people who ate fish less than once a week ran a 31% higher chance of depression than people who ate it more often. Dr. Antti Tanskanen of the University of Kuopio said that the evidence gained from a random survey of 3,204 adults from four areas of Finland was statistically significant only for women, though results for men were similar. He also said that while fish contains omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) it was too early to recommend that fish or PUFA would help mild to severe depression. Survey respondents completed a questionnaire measuring depressive symptoms and fish consumption.

IF FISH DON'T WORK, TRY THE DISCO
Those Finns! Not only do they study fish and have the world's biggest cellphone company (Nokia) but some inventive Finnish crowd have come up with a highly entertaining Shockwave-powered virtual disco. Surf to http://www.mobilesdisco.com and assign yourself a character, then mingle in the bar and downstairs disco. Warning: it helps if you speak Finnish (though you'll find people there from all over the world); and the experience can be highly addictive... a crowd of Wellington dance culture types spent hours in there a couple of Fridays back...

CUSTOMER OF THE WEEK
Peter Johnson of Brighton, UK, is such a fan of his local takeaway that he eats there five times a week. Fair enough. But Johnson, a 49-year-old unemployed chef loved the All In One takeaway restaurant enough to get its name and phone number tattooed on his forehead. Did he get free pizza? No. "But whenever he comes in, he'll go straight to the front of the queue," said owner Nasser Bandar.
