ROOTS FOUNDATION vs BUREAU DE BASHMENT SOUNDCLASH

Basstech Promotions are proud to present a one -off high-powered gorgonic soundclash between Wellingtons finest the mighty Roots Foundation and Aucklands soundboy slayers the Bureau De Bashment.

SOUNDCLASH

An event of Jamaican origin involving two (or more) different groups or crews of disc jockeys, MCs and engineers, situated at different 'station' competing for the most charged and consistent response from the crowd. Though these events can become well heated in JA, UK or US the camaraderie between all of these performers who have all appeared together in the past will ensure that all competitiveness will be equalled by unity vibes and the crowd will be the winner on the night.

ROOTS FOUNDATION

Featuring legendary Wellington DJs Mu, Lemon, Goosebump and Koa alongside the vocal talents of MC Imon Star the Roots Foundation have been hosting the capitals most well renowned and rammed dances for the longest time. They are currently boasting two contenders for the 'Best DJ' category at the 'b-net Music Awards' as well as a group selection for the Roots Foundation tour in the 'best live act ' lolly scramble. With a solid reputation both home and away many pundits have already argued that the Roots are the only sound tough enough to give the Bureau a run for their money, the punters will decide!

BUREAU DE BASHMENT

Originally known as the Smokers Delight Sound and veterans of the Stylee Crew/37 Degrees the trio of 95bfm DJs Slowdeck and Stinky Jim and Twelve Tribes/DLT collaborator the Might Asterix have raised dancehall consciousness and kept the cultural flag flying in Auckland for the past four years. Two sound-systems (Downbeat and Sweet Ting) have come and tested them in the past and two sounds have been sent packing, the Bureau are good to go but have the Roots got the boots?

THE VENUE

The Crypt at the St Pauls church, 28 Symonds Street offers a unique, inner city subterranean locale that has never been fully utilised for an event of this nature. There will be full security for surety as well as a licensed bar and food.

SOUND AND LIGHTS

In the tradition of Basstech and Bureau De Bashment controlled events the sound and lights will be handled by the top shelf specialists Acme with their stupendous Martin Audio system. The live records and MC mic racket will also be augmented by full-blown video tomfoolery.

THE DAMAGE

Bucking the trend of big money dance parties this event will be kept to a charge of $15 for pre-sale tickets or $20 on the gate. Pre-sales are available from Real Groovy, Marbecks, Beat Merchants and Beautiful Music now.

BASSTECH PROMOTIONS

Are the people responsible for bringing the likes of Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Rockers HiFi and Mad Professor to these shores (amongst others) and are the only mob with the experience to handle the sensitive sound boy sensibilities of Aotearoas' two most thunderous sounds!
